President and CEO of Val-Matic Retires

Ted J. Makowan will continue to serve on the company's board of directors

Val-Matic Valve and Manufacturing Corporation has announced that Ted Makowan, president and CEO, will be retiring from Val-Matic on April 6, 2016 but will continue to serve on the Val-Matic board of directors. Makowan founded the company with Andy Nuter in Chicago in 1966 and will be retiring on the 50th anniversary of the company’s beginning.

During his tenure as vice president of sales and marketing and eventually president and CEO, Makowan was instrumental in growing the company and championing the launch of 14 new product lines and was awarded two valve patents. He built a sales network and marketing organization from the ground up and always incorporated the latest technologies for communication and business operation. He led sourcing efforts in Asia 30 years ago, resulting in one of the first global supply chains in the industry.

Val-Matic Valve and Manufacturing Corporation’s headquarters is located in Elmhurst, Ill., with additional manufacturing facilities in Addison, Ill. Val-Matic is a manufacturer of air valves, check valves, and quarter turn shut-off valves for water/wastewater, power, industrial, fire protection and HVAC applications.
