The National Ground Water Assn. (NGWA) has launched a Facebook page to provide useful, relevant information to groundwater professionals and the public, and to foster dialog about groundwater-related issues.
Those who have a Facebook account can access the NGWA page by visiting http://www.facebook.com/pages/National-Ground-Water-Association/125097080847575?ref=ts. Once on the page, click “like this” to follow the page.
“As the leading groundwater association that advocates the responsible development, management and use of water, Facebook is a great way to share information,” said Cliff Treyens, NGWA public awareness director. “What makes social media like Facebook so useful is how it permits the free flow of information and dialogue. Since NGWA’s mission is to advance groundwater knowledge, Facebook provides an excellent tool for doing just that.”
NGWA will be regularly posting pertinent information for groundwater professionals, including water well system contractors, and groundwater scientists and engineers. NGWA also will also make regular posts for the public.
“Most people have no idea that 95% of all available freshwater comes from aquifers. Whether one owns a water well for a water supply or is hooked up to a public water system, every person has a stake in groundwater because it is so essential to our nation’s welfare,” Treyens said.
