Biosolids crisis looms in Maine

Concerns over PFAS chemicals in biosolids are rising to the forefront of industry conversations yet again. In 2022, Maine banned land application of biosolids due to concerns of PFAS in those biosolids leaching into the soil of local farms. Utilities have been landfilling or incinerating as a result, but landfill capacity is reaching a tipping point. Read more in the news below.
