Neptune Technology Group Acquires DB Microware

Jan. 20, 2003

DAP Technologies has announced that its parent company Neptune Technology Group Inc. has acquired DB Microware -- a company specializing in software development for the utility industry.

Founded in 1988, DB Microware provides a suite of field management tools including meter reading, service work orders, and route optimization software to many of the largest utility companies in the United States.

According to Antonio Lara, vice president of North American Sales, "This is the first step in DAP’s strategy to bridge the gap between the hardware and software to offer complete and better solutions to our customers, through partnerships, alliances and joint development campaigns."

DB Microware developed the probing and meter reading Windows CE package that has helped DAP win a number of large utility contracts. Most recently, over 1,000 DAP units were sold to American Electric Power as part as a contract awarded to DB Microware for their FieldNet software.
