The hydrants have received NSF 61 certification, ensuring they do not leach contaminants into drinking water
Mueller Co. announced that its Super Centurion 250 fire hydrant has received NSF 61 certification.
The NSF/ANSI Standard 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects includes criteria for testing and evaluating products to ensure they do not leach contaminants, such as lead, into water for human consumption in concentrations that could be a health concern.

The Mueller Super Centurion 250 fire hydrant features 250 psig working pressure, a stainless steel safety stem coupling that helps resist corrosion and provides a tighter connection between stem sections, and an efficient hydraulic design to provide maximum flow. In addition, all iron surfaces inside and out of the fire hydrant are covered with a durable two-part epoxy coating which forms a tough, corrosion-resistant barrier to chemicals, physical impact and electrical currents.
