Ultrasonic Flowmeter Can Be Used With Harsh Chemicals

The flowmeter’s sound transducers do not come in contact with the fluid being measured

The Sonic-Pro flowmeter measures flow in virtually any fluid in which sound waves can travel. It is a hybrid ultrasonic flowmeter, so it can be used in either Doppler or Transit Time operation modes. Because its ultrasonic sound transducers are clamped to the outside of the pipe wall, the Sonic-Pro can measure flow in both clean and dirty fluids. In addition, since the meter does not come in contact with the fluid being measured, the flowmeter is suitable for use in applications where harsh chemicals and other abrasive fluids are being measured. It has a high-capacity flow velocity range of up to 30 ft/second (9 m/second).

Sonic-Pro can be configured and controlled remotely via RS-232, RS-485, USB or Ethernet. Users can view real-time flow and download data log files remotely on a Windows PC. Additional features include custom quality metric algorithms and DSP technology; an easy-reading backlit LCD; logging to a standard SD card format, which is supplied with the unit; a fully configurable isolated 4-20mA output; and a fully configurable 0- to 1000-Hz pulse output. The housing is rated NEMA 4X (IP 66) for wash-down.

The optional T-Track mounting system enables fast and accurate installation on small pipes (down to 0.5 in.). The metal clamp on its transducers enables large pipe capacity of up to 100 in. The system also features NEMA 4X quick-disconnects.

The T-Track is designed to quickly and accurately mount transducers utilizing a built-in ruler and mounting base to ensure transducers are perfectly aligned and spaced. It includes a heavy gauge stainless steel cover, anodized aluminum end blocks and polymeric tensioning clamps to provide transducer protection for years of service in tough environments.
