After nearly a year of extensive testing, Castle Springs Bottled Water has a permit to extract 240,000 gallons of water daily. Castle Springs, which is owned by California-based Crystal Geyser Roxane, will take the water from two boreholes near their mountain springs. The company had a permit to take unlimited water from their naturally flowing springs but pursued the boreholes to ensure the water quality. Jim Martin, speaking for the state Department of Environmental Services, said the company could have bottled a million gallons a day under state law but chose to put itself under a more stringent regulatory process.
