JWC Environmental, Headworks Settle Patent Matter

Sept. 15, 2004

Headworks, Inc. and JWC Environmental jointly announce the signing of a settlement agreement. At issue is Headworks, Inc. U.S. Patent 5,730,862 titled "Bar Screen with Rotating Rakes" and claims regarding methods of blockage sensing, numbers of automatic reversals and rake structure.

Both companies manufacture Chain and Rake Screens and other devices for use in water and wastewater.

In the agreement, Headworks grants JWCE certain limited rights to Headworks' proprietary technology covered by the patent. JWCE and Headworks have agreed to certain operations of JWCE's equipment which does not replicate Headworks' screening technology.

"Both parties remain committed to the mutual respect of the other's Intellectual Property and the inquiry is closed," according to a press statement from JWC.
