Summary
The U.S. EPA released its occurrence data for the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule 5 in July. The data represents 7% of the total results, but discovered 8.5% of public water systems had PFOS greater than the reference limit. Similarly, 7.8% of PWSs had PFOA greater than the reference limit. While this monitoring data is honed for drinking water, professionals in the clean water community — both wastewater and stormwater — also recognize the potential for PFAS’ presence in their streams, as well.
Addressing PFAS across the industry will require a one water approach and commitment. Professionals will need to break down the silos between market verticals to work together to address their presence in waterways to protect the public and meet EPA's proposed limits. In this webinar, utility executives and managers, engineers, and consulting engineers will get an overview of the challenges PFAS present to each market vertical — drinking water, wastewater and stormwater — followed by a discussion on where each vertical can work with the others to address the oft-referenced "forever chemicals" once and for all.
