Available Funding for Emergency Watershed Protection in the State of Florida

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced the request for proposals for the Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP).

Please note that this program will only fund projects in the state of Florida.

The EWP is designed remediate natural disasters that result form suddenly impaired watersheds.

Funding through this program supports the following activities: removing debris from streams, protecting and stabilizing streambanks, establishing cover on critically eroding lands, repairing conservation practices, and purchasing flood easements. Eligible applicants for this program are state, county and city governments and nonprofit organizations.

It is anticipated that there will be approximately $1 million available for EWP projects in 2005.
