WEF Shares Details of WEFTEC Innovation Showcase

Programming to include Beer Smackdown, Operator Ingenuity contest, innovation updates & more

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) and its innovation partners BlueTech Research and Imagine H2O organized the fifth annual Innovation Showcase for WEF’s technical exhibition and conference, WEFTEC. The Innovation Showcase highlights water sector innovation while providing access to the leaders and technologies behind it.

The Innovation Pavilion, one component of the Showcase, will feature companies offering cutting-edge products and services, as well as a presentation theater. The programming is relevant to utilities, investors, strategic partners, entrepreneurs and technology providers.

Highlights of the programming include:

  • An overview of WEF’s new Water Reuse Roadmap Primer;
  • The newest information about storm water modeling, advanced treatment processes and resource recovery;
  • An update on innovation in regulations and benchmarking water quality standards, trading and nutrients;
  • Startups pitching ideas to investors in a format modeled after the popular television show Shark Tank;
  • The return of the Beer Smackdown, the popular tasting contest that features brews made from recycled water;
  • The Operator Ingenuity contest;
  • A briefing from a water cluster based in Puget Sound, along with information about the proposed Global Watershed Initiative; and
  • An interactive energy/water session featuring representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, who will discuss its Better Buildings Wastewater Infrastructure Accelerator Initiative and other energy-related topics and programs.
