Stanley Consultants, a global consulting engineering firm with four offices in Florida, has been awarded indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts by two of Florida’s water management districts: the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).
“The role that both of these districts play in managing and protecting Florida’s water resources is critical,” said John Downes, manager of Stanley Consultants’ four Florida offices. “Both are longtime clients of ours and we’re extremely pleased in the confidence they have shown in us to remain one of their key consultants.”
Stanley Consultants was awarded an IDIQ contract by the SWFWMD to provide district-wide professional engineering services. The SWFWMD manages the water resources for west-central Florida. The district encompasses roughly 10,000 square miles across 16 counties and serves approximately 4.7 million residents. Its mission is to manage water and related natural resources to ensure their continued availability while maximizing the benefits to the public.
Under the SWFWMD IDIQ contract, work may be awarded to Stanley Consultants through task orders for a period of up to five years. The scopes of service include water conveyance systems design, permitting and construction inspection, as well as construction inspection and infrastructure assessments
Past work for the SWFWMD includes inspection of several water control structures, including South West Florida’s largest water control spillway, as well as engineering services for a large discharge replacement structure on Lake Hancock, and construction inspection on a variety of projects.
Stanley Consultants was also selected as a subconsultant to Carollo Eng. to provide professional engineering services to the SFWMD. The IDIQ contract is for a three-year period with two, one-year options to renew. Work orders will be issued throughout this time period on an as-needed basis. Restoration task orders covered by the work orders could include stormwater treatment areas, flow equalization basins, reservoirs, and their associated appurtenances.
The SFWMD is the oldest and largest of Florida’s five water management districts, with responsibility for water resources that span 16 counties from Orlando to Key West and serves approximately 7.9 million residents. The mission of the SFWMD is to manage and protect water resources in the region by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply.
For nearly 25 years, Stanley Consultants has provided professional engineering services to the SFWMD, including the design of public access areas, pump stations, test cells and reservoirs, storm water treatment areas, and water control structure renovation and inspection. In 2012, the firm developed a water resources planning tool for the SFWMD to estimate annual operational costs for large scale water management infrastructure improvements.
