The board of directors of the U.S. Water Alliance, a national non-partisan and independent charity, is seeking applicants for the position of president and CEO to lead staff, board and the water sector into a new era of “One Water” sustainability and value.

Founded in 2008, the U.S. Water Alliance’s (USWA) mission is to unite people and policy for One Water sustainability. The USWA is building momentum behind a national vision of true water sustainability, based on valuing, collaborating, integrating and innovating for water’s future in America’s diverse communities and many watersheds.

Reporting to the board of directors, the president and CEO has responsibility for the USWA’s overall strategic direction and operations. The position is based in Washington, D.C.

The president will be responsible for executing the organization’s mission as set out in its strategic plan; managing staff and contractors; managing board relations organizational planning and leadership, program development and management, and execution of the USWA mission. A successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to USWA’s mission and will have proven experience in leading organizations or agencies, working with a board of directors or similar governance body, and communicating effectively in a variety of media and venues. The position requires frequent, independent travel to locations around the country.

The board will negotiate an employment contract with the successful applicant. Compensation will be based upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications in line with the organization’s budget. Paid vacation, health care and other benefits will be included in a final compensation package.

Candidates interested in applying for the position should email a Letter of Interest and up-to-date resume with at least three references to [email protected] by April 30, 2015. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged. The board may request one or more candidates to interview in person as part of its review of qualified candidates.
