Dr. Arthur Freedman wins AWT Technologist of the Year

The Association of Water Technologies (AWT) has presented its 2000 Ray Baum Memorial Technologist of the Year award to Dr. Arthur Freedman. Dr. Freedman is President of Arthur Freedman Associates, Inc., a private water treatment consultancy in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Freedman has had a long and illustrious career in chemistry and water treatment. Dr. Freedman attended New York University, where he received his bachelors, masters and Ph.D. degrees in inorganic chemistry. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT.

Dr. Freedman has been employed by Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, the University of New Mexico as a research fellow, Amoco Oil Company as a senior scientist and Nalco Chemical Co. as their technical director and marketing manager for cooling water and boiler water treatment.

Dr. Freedman holds five patents. He has had articles published in over sixty industry publications covering aspects of water treatment and inorganic chemistry. He has been a member of the American Chemical Society for 50 years and a member of NACE International for 47.
