Utility uses Cityworks Desktop to Respond to Federal CMOM Guidelines

Azteca Systems, the leading provider of GIS-centric asset maintenance management solutions, announced that the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) has deployed Cityworks as an integral part of their US EPA Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance (CMOM) compliance efforts.

DELCORA, located in Chester, Pa., utilizes Cityworks Desktop to manage preventative and scheduled maintenance of more than 180 mi of sanitary sewer and storm water drainage systems within their service area. Faced with meeting EPA’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) requirements, DELCORA implemented Cityworks to manage maintenance, tests, inspections and the expedient response to overflow situations and other wastewater issues.

“After reviewing five different programs, we selected Azteca’s Cityworks as the only choice that would meet all of our needs,” said Joe Centrone, sewer maintenance foreman, DELCORA. “With Cityworks, we’re managing and tracking maintenance efforts associated with our CMOM requirements. We’re now tracking work much more efficiently while building maintenance history records to support capital planning and upcoming Federal GASB 34 requirements.”

“DELCORA is a representative example of utility organizations faced with the daunting task of protecting public health, property and waterways,” said Brian Haslam, president of Azteca Systems. “We’re pleased to see Cityworks perform to their high standards, allowing them to successfully respond to demanding federal and state regulations while meeting their day-to-day business objectives. In essence, the DELCORA project is another shining example of Cityworks’ flexibility and reliability, delivering much needed yet intuitive, GIS-centric management tools.”

DELCORA evaluated several work management systems prior to selecting Cityworks. Cityworks was implemented by Motorola, Inc. and CDM International. Motorola is a top tier distribution partner for Azteca Systems, representing Cityworks to agencies that serve populations in excess of 250,000. CDM International is a premier Authorized Business Partner providing Cityworks implementation, integration and training services.
