The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) issued an advisory notice on Wednesday for customers in parts of West Los Angeles to boil their water or use bottled water.
The notice remains in effect through Friday, pending results of water quality sampling. Two sequential sets of samples are undergoing laboratory tests, in accordance with state guidelines.
The boil water notification was issued as a precautionary measure due to loss of pressure from a major water leak. The pipeline is supplied from the Stone Canyon Reservoir, but the DWP says the reservoir itself is not affected.
While there is no known or suspected contamination of the water system, officials continue to urge the public to take the additional precautionary measures until test results can be confirmed and approved by the State Department of Health Services.
