    Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) attacks and damages sewers. Raw sewage, warm temperatures, longer retention times and turbulence encourage rapid bacterial growth. Hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) is converted into sulfuric acid (H2SO4) by Thiobacillus bacteria that grows on the concrete surfaces above the flow.
