Honolulu is making substantial progress on a three-year construction project that includes the replacement of the Beachwalk Force Main. The project contractor is the Frank Coluccio Construction Co., located in Kapolei, Hawaii. Work started Oct. 7 following a traditional christening ceremony.
During the event, Patricia Coluccio, the matriarch of the contractor’s family, christened the new micro tunnel boring machines, which was named for her. Her sons, Franco and Nick Coluccio, also were present. The Rev. William Kaina gave the blessing. The project tunneling operations will begin in November 2010 and will continue until 2012.
Hobas Pipe is supplying 4,400 linear ft of nominal 78-in. centrifugally cast, fiberglass-reinforced polymer mortar (CCFRPM) pressure jacking pipes per ASTM D3754 for the project.
