June Course in Salt Lake City Will Provide Overview of NPDES Permit Program

May 9, 2005

A two-day permit program overview course for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit holders and other interested parties is scheduled for June 14-15 in Salt Lake City.

The course, co-sponsored by the Water Environment Federation (Alexandria, Va.), Water Environment Association of Utah (Salt Lake City), and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, "is designed to provide attendees with a strong understanding of the purpose of the NPDES program as well as the mechanics for developing, issuing, and implementing an NPDES permit," according to a course announcement.

Specifically, the course objective "is to increase understanding by both the permit holder and permit writer as a means to help reduce permit issuance time and lead to increased permit compliance," the announcement said.
