Zenon CEO Selected as Entrepreneur of the Year

April 13, 2004

Andrew Benedek, Chairman and CEO of ZENON Environmental, Inc., was selected as Entrepreneur of the Year during the 9th Annual Oakville Awards for Business Excellence.

"I'm extremely honoured to be the recipient of this year's award, which reflects ZENON's success," Benedek said. "Although I was unable to receive it in person, it is still very exciting to have been chosen among many of Oakville's finest business leaders in this category."

Benedek had the vision, decades ago, of a world where cost effective membrane technology could ensure humanity's survival with safe and superior quality water. At the time very few shared his idea. Since then, ZENON has grown on his vision over the last 24 years and in 2003 achieved record revenue of $184 million (26% growth over 2002) and net income of $12.5 million (94% increase over 2002).

The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes an individual who has introduced a new, different or unique business concept where the element of risk is significant and where a track record of success is clearly evident. The annual event was presented in partnership with the Rotary Club of Oakville West and the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, recognizing excellence in business.
