Pennsylvania American Water Acquires Rustic Acres Water Company

Oct. 2, 2003

Pennsylvania American Water has acquired the water assets of Rustic Acres Water Association.

"Today, we celebrate the beginning of a new partnership between the employees at Pennsylvania American and our newest customers in Lehman Township," said Robert M. Ross, president and CEO. The transaction expands Pennsylvania American's water customer base by more than 150 customers in Pike County.

"It's a great fit for Pennsylvania American," Ross said. "We are the regional provider of water and wastewater service in the area." The company acquired Lehman Pike Water and Sewer Company and Mid-Monroe Water Company in 2002, and has two other systems under agreement to be purchased, which serve Winona Lakes and the Country Club of the Poconos. Pennsylvania American is the largest regulated water and wastewater service provider in the state serving more than 2 million residents statewide.

"For the Rustic Acres customers, the transition will be transparent," Ross said. "We are committed to providing our new customers with the same high level of service and quality water our current customers are accustomed to receiving."
