California American Water will hold a community open house and information session Jan. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its business office in Pacific Grove. Company representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions concerning the company’s General Rate Case (GRC) Application (A. 10-07-007), which is currently pending before the California Public Utilities Commission. The application seeks approximately $17 million over three years to fund needed operations and infrastructure improvements in its Monterey service district. The request applies to the company’s water customers on the Monterey Peninsula, areas of the 68 corridor, the community of Chualar, Ralph Lane and the company’s Monterey County wastewater customers. If approved, the new rates would take effect in 2012.

Water conservation specialists also will be on hand to help customers take advantage of water conservation programs and resources. Free water-saving devices, including low-flow hose nozzles, sink aerators, shower heads, moisture meters and more will be available. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
