AWWA Webcast to Focus on Proper Pump Maintenance

Aug. 6 webcast will help service providers, contractors and utility and engineering professionals learn to how to properly maintain pumps

Service providers, contractors and utility and engineering professionals will learn how to properly maintain pumps during the American Water Works Association's (AWWA) webcast, "Pump Maintenance," at 1 p.m. EDT, Aug. 6.

Pumps are used in many water treatment processes and require consistent monitoring and maintenance. The webcast will cover the individual components of a pump and its maintenance requirements, the effect of pump operation on pump performance, and methods for monitoring pump conditions. Attendees also will learn to plan effective pump maintenance activities.

Webcast presenters will include:
• James M. Brady, P.E., chief of load control for the Philadelphia Water Department, who has 34 years experience in the maintenance and operation of pumping stations and water distribution systems;
• Christopher M. Bollig, P.E., project manager with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas, who also is vice chair of the AWWA Water Supply and Distribution System Design Committee; and
• Bertin J. Morales, city of Phoenix remote services supervisor, who has over 20 years of water-industry experience, including eight years of management and supervisory experience with the City of Phoenix Water Services Department.
