Ionics Awarded Multiple Wastewater Projects for Taiwan's Largest Semiconductor Manufacturer

Feb. 2, 2004

Ionics Inc. has been selected by Taiwan's largest semiconductor manufacturer to handle four different wastewater projects.

Ionics was awarded this contract because of its unique wastewater treatment offerings, including its proprietary EnChem(R) technology. This wastewater treatment process is used to treat copper CMP (chemical mechanical planerization) wastewater, removing copper and other contaminants from semiconductor waste streams in order to meet regulatory requirements for wastewater discharge and make the water available for re-use.

Ionics' EnChem process incorporates a patented membrane technology which has been evaluated and installed at semiconductor facilities for the treatment of copper CMP, silica and alumina CMP, fluoride, arsenic, and other heavy metals.
