Ashland Specialty Chemical Company Drew Industrial Division Receives Vaaler Award

Dec. 11, 2001

The Drew Industrial Division of Ashland Specialty Chemical Company has been awarded the 2001 Chemical Processing Magazine Vaaler Award. This prestigious award was granted to the Performax Millennium series of cooling water treatment products as the most innovative technology in the water treatment category. This series of products has proven to contribute significant enhancements in plant operations, safety, environmental impact, productivity and return on investment. The Vaaler Award is the only such recognition program in the chemical industry and is judged by an independent panel of industry experts.

The Performax Millennium series is recognized for providing a typical 90 percent reduction in corrosion and scale, even in severely stressed systems. Through customized, oxidant-stable formulations, the series provides maximum performance in a wide variety of system waters and operating conditions, ranging from very soft to highly alkaline waters containing high levels of scale-forming ions. These treatment products are formulated for maximum deposit control to 180 degrees Fahrenheit (82 degrees Celsius) surface temperatures. In addition, the series provides enhanced benefits to the environment.

Performax Millennium series products have very low total phosphorus levels to aid in addressing bleed discharge limitations. In addition, the primary components of this family of products are inherently biodegradable and will not persist in the environment.
