Anvil Intl. University Park Distribution Center Reaches Safety Milestone

Dec. 9, 2011

Distribution center has reached 1,000 days without lost-time incident

Anvil Intl., a manufacturer of pipe fittings, pipe hangers and piping support systems, announced that its University Park, Ill., distribution center has achieved the milestone of 1,000 days without a lost-time incident. The company is a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products Inc. The milestone is particularly significant given the high-volume of orders that come through the University Park facility.

The 192,000-sq-ft regional service center was Anvil Intl.’s first venture into the regional warehousing concept in 1999. It was built to deliver expedient service, from order entry to fulfillment, and to accommodate high-volume order processing across multiple product lines.

A sophisticated distribution facility, the University Park center uses a vertical selective pallet racking system that accommodates 24,000 pallets along cantilever racking for efficient storage of thread rod and strut products. Material is inventoried and warehoused though a paperless computerized management process directly linked to Anvil’s barcode ordering systems.

“This accomplishment is a testament to the University Park staff’s dedication and personal commitment to safety,” Anvil Regional Distribution Manager Ron Porretta said. “This team truly exemplifies Anvil’s culture of leadership and professionalism.”
