Company Focuses on Partnership, Highlights New LineSaver Program

American Water will present a workshop featuring the company’s newest offering, LineSaver, at the 2005 National League of Cities (NLC) Congress of Cities and Exposition, taking place in Charlotte, N.C. from December 6-10.

NLC’s Vendor Theatre “Learning from the Expert” sessions offer municipal attendees an opportunity to experience educational presentations from leaders in the water industry. American Water’s workshop, titled “How to Generate Municipal Revenue and Improve Homeowner Satisfaction,” will take place on Thursday, December 8, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall. The focus of the workshop will be LineSaver, a unique program designed to protect homeowners from the high cost of unexpected service line repairs and provide municipalities with a new source of revenue.

According to Sharon Cameron, vice president of American Water’s Homeowner Services Group and workshop leader, “Most homeowners are unaware of their water and sewer line ownership and responsibility. As a result, emergency repairs uncovered by homeowners’ insurance can cost thousands of dollars, prompting angry calls to city and utility officials.

“For a few dollars a month, homeowners receive peace-of-mind protection and exceptional customer service. Municipalities benefit by providing an additional community service, earning a share of the revenue generated from enrollments and improving the public’s perception of water utilities,” Cameron said.

The workshop will showcase LineSaver benefits and demonstrate how American Water actively manages all requirements for developing and implementing the Program.

“We establish a local plumbing contractor network, educate the community about service line ownership and responsibility and introduce a solution to help reduce financial and environmental stress due to lost water,” said Clifford Groh, director of operations and co-presenter of the workshop.
