A.J. Antunes & Co. to Open Manufacturing Plant in China

June 19, 2003

A.J. Antunes & Co., a manufacturer of countertop foodservice equipment, water filtration systems, electronic controls and air and gas pressure switches, will enhance service to and strengthen relationships with international customers with the completion of a new manufacturing plant in Suzhou, China. Operations are scheduled to begin in July 2003.

The new facility is strategically located in the Suzhou New District, a high-tech industrial development area about 50 miles west of Shanghai and on the outskirts of one of the most affluent cities in China. Initial operations will include assembly of the company’s unique corn cookers for the foodservice market, water filtration systems for the removal of bacteria, particulates and viruses present in a typical water supply, and air and gas pressure switches.

"With the new location, we can respond faster and more cost effectively to the Asian and surrounding international markets," said Glenn Bullock, president of A.J. Antunes & Co. "We currently have customers in more than 130 countries, and we expect our business to continue to grow."

John Han, the company’s Asia/Pacific sales manager for the past seven years, will be the new facility’s general manager. Helen Zhao joins the company as operations manager. Kitty Cheng has signed on as sales engineering manager. "A number of our customers are expanding their businesses in China and the Far East, and they are asking for our current products as well as custom-designed products specific to the needs of the market," says Han. "The Suzhou plant will ensure that we have the manufacturing capability to handle all current and potential customer requirements."
