ZENON breaks ground on new membrane plant

ZENON has broken ground for construction of the new manufacturing plant to be built in Oroszlany, Hungary, just one hour outside of Budapest.

The new plant, expected to be complete by year-end, will more than double ZENON's manufacturing capacity and complement the existing system assembly plant in neighbouring Tatabanya. Located on 11,400 square meters, the site is large enough to accommodate further expansion as required to serve the rapidly increasing demand for ZENON's products.

Among those attending the official ground breaking ceremony were Istvan Stumpf, Hungary's Deputy Prime Minister; Marta Moszczenszka, Canadian Ambassador to Hungary; Karoly Sunyovszki, Mayor of Oroszlany; Mozes Lazar, President of Komarom - Esztergom County General Assembly; and Andrew Szonyi, Director, ZENON Environmental Inc.

ZENON first established a Hungarian company 10 years ago with the opening of a system sales and service office in Tatabanya. Subsequently, ZENON expanded its operations there with the opening of a system assembly plant in 1999. The success of previous investments in Hungary encouraged ZENON's Board of Directors to approve further investment at this time.
