New area manager to focus on water practice in Carolinas

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff appointed Chip Smith as area manager for the firm’s water practice in the Carolinas.

In his new position, Smith, who will be based in the firm’s Charlotte, N.C., office, will focus on the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure improvement and rehabilitation projects. Smith will work closely with technical staff and business development teams to deliver a water market growth strategy, establish new clients, and develop and maintain existing client relationships.

Smith has more than 30 years of experience on a broad array of water, wastewater and storm water projects across the southeast U.S. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was program director of water management services for a national engineering firm, responsible for technical support and quality control for water, sewer and storm water projects.

A licensed professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, Smith received a B.S. in civil engineering from Old Dominion University. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation and the American Public Works Assn.
