WateReuse Association Presents Annual Awards in Seattle

Awards honor projects and individuals that advance the efficient use of water resources

Innovative approaches to addressing water resources issues resulting from climate change, population growth and depletion or contamination of existing sources were honored during the WateReuse Association’s Annual Awards Luncheon held Sept. 14 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel in Seattle.

The awards recognize projects and individuals that advance the beneficial and efficient use of water resources through education, sound science and technology using reclamation, recycling, reuse or desalination for the benefit of the public and the environment. The award recipients are listed below.

WateReuse Projects of the Year – Large
• Butler Drive Water Reclamation Facility (Peoria, Ariz.); and
• George W. Shannon Wetlands Water Recycling Facility (Streetman, Texas).

WateReuse Project of the Year – Small
• Englewood Water District Water Reclamation Facility (Englewood, Fla.).

WateReuse Project of the Year – Desalination Facility
• Cache Creek Desalination Facility (Capay Valley, Calif.).

WateReuse Institution of the Year
• University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, N.C.).

WateReuse Public Education Program of the Year
• The Constructed Wetlands: An Exhibit in the Gardens of the Springs Preserve (Las Vegas).

WateReuse Customer of the Year
• Pebble Beach Company (Pebble Beach, Calif.).

WateReuse Person of the Year
• Eric Rosenblum, City of San Jose Municipal Water District, South Bay Water Recycling System (San Jose, Calif.); and
• Linda Macpherson, CH2M HILL (Portland, Ore.).

WateReuse Awards of Merit
• City of Clovis Water Reuse Facility (Clovis, Calif.);
• Collier County South Regional Desalination Plant (Naples, Fla.);
• Leisure Village Association (Camarillo, Calif.);
• The Olympic Club (San Francisco, Calif.);
• The Wollongong Recycled Water Scheme (Parramatta, Australia); and
• Watsonville Area Water Recycling Project (Watsonville, Calif.).
