Awards recognize projects and individuals advancing beneficial and efficient water use

The WateReuse Association recognized the best and the brightest in water reuse and desalination during the Annual WateReuse Awards Luncheon held Sept. 8 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. The awards recognize projects and individuals that advance beneficial and efficient use of water resources through education, sound science and technology using reclamation, recycling, reuse or desalination for the benefit of the public and the environment. The award recipients are listed below.

WateReuse Projects of the Year – Large
• North Texas Municipal Water District — East Fork Raw Water Supply Project (Wylie, Texas)
• Orange County Water District/Orange County Sanitation District — Groundwater Replenishment System (Fountain Valley, Calif.)

WateReuse Project of the Year – Small
• Carnation Wastewater Treatment Facility (Seattle)

WateReuse Project of the Year – Desalination Facility
• Kay Bailey Hutchison Desalination Facilities (El Paso, Texas)

WateReuse Institution of the Year
• City of Santa Rosa’s Subregional Water Reuse System (Santa Rosa, Calif.)

WateReuse Public Education Program of the Year
• Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities/Cheyenne Water Reuse Program (Cheyenne, Wy.)

WateReuse Customer of the Year
• Calpine Corp. (Middletown, Calif.)

WateReuse Person of the Year
• Pick Talley (Tampa, Fla.)

WateReuse Awards of Merit
• Alan Plummer, Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. (Fort Worth, Texas)
