More than 700 leaders in the water treatment industry will gather to discuss the latest industry trends and technology at the Association of Water Technologies' 16th Annual Convention and Exposition. The theme of this year's convention will be "The Business of Water: Meeting the Challenges to Come."
The convention, taking place Nov. 3-6, 2004 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., will focus on both business and technical aspects of water treatment and provide attendees with essential networking and educational opportunities through sessions conducted by industry leaders.
Jack Faris, president & CEO of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), will provide the keynote address focusing on insurance and other issues plaguing small business owners today. He is ranked as the most influential small-business leader in Washington, D.C. by Fortune Small Business magazine and is a champion of small business challenges.
The convention also will feature valuable sessions with topics ranging from advances in boiler and cooling water treatment to the latest practical information on Legionella and effective ways to approach business marketing. The wide range of specialties within the industry will be covered in sessions such as:
- Membrane Water Treatment: Know It Or Be Left In The Dust (Of Your Competitors), presented by David H. Paul of David H. Paul, Inc., will focus on the mantra, "Recycle, Reuse and Reclaim," when it comes to increasing efficiency by reducing the cost and quantity of raw water usage and wastewater discharge.
- Break All The Rules and Close More Sales, presented by John Rosso of Peak Performance Management, will focus on selling and how it has changed over the years, often leading to the price bandwagon. Rosso also will offer solutions by discussing alternative approaches to selling, such as qualifying, disqualifying and closing the sale.
The three-day convention will provide conference attendees with the opportunity to participate in several other special events including AWT's 13th annual golf tournament, taking place Nov. 3 at Nashville's Springhouse Golf Club from 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., and the AWT Annual Recognition Reception and Dinner, taking place Nov. 5 from 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. During the reception the 2005 AWT Board of Directors will announce the recipient of the Ray Baum Memorial Water Technologist of the Year Award, the highest honor that can be achieved within the water treatment field.
