The Greater Vancouver Regional District in Vancouver, Canada, was forced to advise residents that increased turbidity in their drinking water might make it appear cloudy. Turbidity happens when sediment is transported into reservoirs by runoff.
The drinking water’s current cloudy state is the result of a recent rainstorm. The GVRD reported to CKNW News that it is monitoring source reservoirs closely and that disinfection levels have been boosted at the two currently active GVRD water sources, the Capilano and Seymour water reservoirs.
CKNW News reports that wile turbid water is not a concern for everyone, those with compromised immune systems should take extra precautions.
