Ostara Appoints Sales Leader for North America
Steve Wirtel will join team as senior vice president
Ostara, a provider of nutrient recovery and phosphorus management solutions, has appointed Steve Wirtel, P.E. as senior vice president, Nutrient Recovery. Based in Phoenix, Steve will help Ostara expand its unique nutrient recovery technology to municipal and industrial wastewater facilities across North America.
“With a successful track record in the wastewater industry over the past 25 years, Steve is a valuable addition to the nutrient recovery team. He will be leading the expansion of Ostara’s nutrient recovery technology in North America and we are happy to have him on board as municipal interest in our technology grows,” said Phillip Abrary, president and CEO of Ostara.
“I am excited about joining Ostara because the company’s nutrient recovery technology is a win-win for both wastewater operators and fertilizer users,” said Wirtel. “The process solves operating challenges at wastewater treatment plants, reduces operating costs and produces a high quality, slow-release fertilizer. With more and more utilities facing numeric nutrient limits, Ostara fills a critical need in the used water (wastewater) reclamation market.”
Steve has 25 years of progressive experience in the wastewater industry. He was a partner at Carollo Engineers where he served as National Client Services director, helping the firm double its revenue over a three year period. Steve also served as executive vice president for USFilter where he was responsible for USFilter's commercial activities in the municipal water and wastewater market in North America with an annual sales volume of more than $300 million. Steve also operated his own business helping technical professionals communicate more effectively to increase their business development productivity.
