The Road to Recovery

Nov. 26, 2012

Two weeks ago, when I wrote about Hurricane Sandy in this blog for the first time, the storm had just passed and residents of the storm-ravaged East Coast were just beginning to assess the damage.

Now recovery and rebuilding are underway, with utilities working hard to restore power and water services to their customers. In the meantime, aid and supplies came into the region from across the country. Many in the water treatment industry stepped up in a big way to ensure that residents whose water services were disrupted had safe water to drink.

From bottled water companies to dealerships, many businesses trucked bottled water to the East Coast. Other industries got in the mix as well: Anheuser-Busch, for example, halted canning beer so it could instead can drinking water to send to New Jersey storm victims.
