RJN UV Disinfection Project Wins Design-Build Project Award

Aug. 17, 2012
Project demonstrated successful application of the design-build principles

The RJN Group Inc. (RJN)-led UV Disinfection Facility Implementation Design-Build Project has won the Design-Build Institute of America—Great Lakes Region (DBIA-GLR) Design-Build Project Award in the Under $10 Million Category.  The UV Disinfection Design-Build Project addressed the disinfection requirements for the wastewater plant effluent and was the final phase of the City of Collinsville, Ill., Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project.  As team leader, RJN provided design and construction management services for the installation of the 24 mgd UV disinfection system.

RJN accepted the award on August 1 at the award luncheon held in Noblesville, Ind.  The DBIA-GLR is comprised of industry partners and industry members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.  To be considered for the DBIA-GLR Award, RJN’s Design-Build Project had to demonstrate successful application of the design-build principles, including collaboration in the early stages of the project and the acceptance of single-entity risk.  The project also had to be completed on time, on budget and without litigation.

RJN’s Design-Build Project was judged by a jury of industry experts, which included owners, design-builders, architects and engineers.  The judging took place outside of the Great Lakes region in June of this year.  As a winning project, RJN is honored for advanced and innovative application of total integrated project delivery and unique solutions to project challenges.
