Contract includes day-to-day oversight, operations of wastewater treatment facility

The city of Duncan, Okla., voted unanimously to extend a contract with CH2M to provide operations management services for the city during the next 10.5 years. The city already has a 30-year partnership established with CH2M. The scope of work includes day-to-day oversight and operations of the city's wastewater treatment facility.

During the city council meeting, CH2M outlined the complexity of operating the 4.5-million gpd wastewater treatment plant, the East City lift station and 38 irrigation pivot sites, while maintaining the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality's permit and requirements. City officials unanimously agreed that it would be in the best interest of the City and residents to stay with a trusted team.

"We have had a great relationship with CH2M and look forward to our future together," said Duncan Mayor Ritchie Dennington. "CH2M has always strived to operate the facility in a safe, economical and environmentally-friendly atmosphere. While the future holds many challenges, we know we have a great partner in CH2M."

CH2M has been the sole provider of operations management services for the city of Duncan and its 24,000 residents since 1995. The team of four also manages the industrial pre-treatment program in the small city. Prior to 1995, CH2M worked with Duncan as a public works consultant starting in 1986.

"Our partnership is the prime example of how hard work, a continuous focus on safety and a strong, respectful partnership can yield positive results," said CH2M Project Manager and 35-year CH2M veteran Tim Boone. "We are honored that the city chose us to continue our journey here and confront the challenges of the future."
