ProTech Appoints Two New Environmental Specialists

ProTech General Contracting Services, Inc., a full service environmental compliance company, announced the addition of two environmental specialists to its staff. The new employees, Dr. Rebecca Mirsky and George Nibler, will provide science and engineering support in the development of the Company's expanding water treatment technologies for stormwater and other applications.

"The stormwater industry is evolving rapidly, and it requires a wide range of skills to develop and implement new technologies and stay abreast of regulatory requirements," says Chris Ott, ProTech’s Chief Technology Officer. "Expertise in hydrology, geochemistry, civil and environmental engineering is an absolute must for a firm to be competitive these days."

Dr. Rebecca Mirsky, Senior Environmental Engineer, has over 25 years of experience in planning, design and implementation of environmental projects, including contamination of soil, surface water, and groundwater. Her experience includes project planning, subcontract administration, field engineering, and cost estimating on a wide variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects. Project work includes permit application, chemical and radiological risk assessment, data analysis for litigation support, environmental assessments, feasibility studies, process evaluation, air dispersion modeling, and regulatory review. Dr. Mirsky holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (1992), an M.S. in Environmental Engineering (1989), and a B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics (1992) from the University of Tennessee, and she is a registered professional engineer in the State of Idaho. Dr. Mirsky’s experience includes three years as assistant professor in the Construction Management Department within the College of Engineering at Boise State University. Effective August 1, 2005, she will return to the University as Construction Management Department Chair.

George Nibler, Environmental Geochemist, has 15 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation projects, specializing in the geochemistry of water, soil, and hazardous materials. His experience includes the design and implementation of numerous geochemical and hydrological investigations, modeling of geochemical/hydrological environments, and development and evaluation of treatment technologies. Typical project experience includes field investigation, computer modeling of geochemical fate and transport, geochemical fingerprinting, development of sampling and analytical methods and laboratory protocols. Projects have spanned a range from mine remediation, industrial hazardous waste, radioactive sites, and numerous others. Mr. Nibler’s education includes a B.S. in Engineering Geology from UCLA (1988) and an M.S. in Geology from Stanford (1991). He is a registered professional geologist in Idaho and holds a Boise Stormwater Plan Designer License.

These new environmental staff appointments underscore ProTech's commitment to environmental responsibility. ProTech will be presenting a paper at StormCon 2005, The North American Surface Water Quality Conference and Exposition, to be held July 19-21 at the Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla. The paper, "Automated Monitoring and Dosage of Polymer Coagulants in Stormwater Treatment using a Streaming Current Detector," will be presented on Thursday, July 21 at 10:15 a.m., in Session B70. ProTech will also be exhibiting in Booth #314.
