Certification provides assurance of product quality to beverage producers
In response to demand for consistent, high quality water for production of beverages including juices, carbonated soft drinks and bottled water, GE Osmonics introduced a family of NSF/ANSI Standard 61 certified spiral wound membrane elements to complement its OSMO BEV Series water treatment systems. Developed by the National Sanitation Foundation, NSF/ANSI Standard 61: Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects is one of the nationally recognized health effects standards for devices, components and materials that contact drinking water.
NSF Standard 61 certification is designed to ensure that the OSMO BEV element components do not contribute contaminants to drinking water that would cause adverse health effects. The certified elements include the OSMO BEV RO elements, which employ reverse osmosis technology, and OSMO BEV NF elements, which employ nanofiltration technology. By using GE Osmonics NSF Standard 61 certified elements, beverage producers are assured that they have purchased products engineered to meet the highest and most rigorous quality standards for components used in drinking water systems.
"As beverage producers become more concerned about the purity of water in their products, a growing number of them are requiring NSF-certified membrane elements in their water treatment systems," said Gerard Gach, beverage and medical global industry director, GE Water Technologies.
All NSF Standard 61 OSMO beverage membrane elements are manufactured at the GE Osmonics ISO 9001-certified manufacturing facility in Minnetonka, Minn.
