The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency & National Sanitation Foundation awarded the validation
NeoTech Aqua Solutions Inc. announced the validation of its D438 ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system and large Patriot manifolds for municipal and potable water applications. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through its Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program in cooperation with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), awarded the validation.
“The EPA’s validation of NeoTech’s UV technology signals a new, more economical and more efficient chapter for municipalities globally,” said Stephen Dunham, NeoTech Aqua’s president and CEO. “Our 99.8% reflective chamber UV product line is known in the pharmaceutical, microelectronics, food/beverage and recreational water markets. But leveraging this technology in multi-million-gal-per-day installations makes the savings in capital equipment, maintenance and operational expenses particularly compelling for municipalities.”
NeoTech’s new validation involved the cooperation of the EPA and NSF who established a test protocol to meet the EPA’s requirements under their UV Disinfection Guidance Manual (UVDGM). Upon the EPA’s approval of the protocol, testing of the D438 was initiated at NSF’s Laboratories in Ann Arbor, Mich., and witnessed by the EPA’s UV experts. During the test, the NeoTech D438 was confirmed to achieve a minimum 3-log cryptosporidium inactivation at flows ranging from 151 to 501 gal per minute. When installed in a Patriot skid configuration, these units may be combined to efficiently treat millions of gal per day. NSF has certified the D438 under the Public Drinking Water Equipment (PDWE) process and the EPA has validated the product under their ETV program.
