Gas transfer membranes provide an alternative to conventional methods for the removal of trihalomethanes and entrained air from drinking water. The engineered efficiencies of this technology can lower operating costs by minimizing pressure loss and reducing footprint. Trihalomethanes and entrained air in drinking water may be removed with the use of Layne’s gas transfer membranes. This approach can provide a lower cost compared to other technologies and provide a smaller footprint. This presentation will outline the operation, potential applications, and installation considerations for hydrophobic gas transfer membranes in potable water supply systems.
