The challenges water, wastewater and storm water utilities face today are familiar: aging infrastructure, shrinking budgets, population growth and tightening regulations. Solutions, on the other hand, may seem less obvious.
The U.S. EPA recognizes these hurdles and has developed an integrated planning process to help local governments comply with regulations in a cost-effective manner. The agency will work with municipalities, reviewing Clean Water Act requirements and highlighting potential efficiency and effectiveness improvements, with an emphasis on green infrastructure.
