PlanGraphics, Inc., Wins GIS Project with China's Chengdu Municipal Waterworks Company

April 7, 2003

PlanGraphics, Inc., has been awarded a contract with Chengdu Municipal Waterworks Company in China's Sichuan Province.

PlanGraphics will deliver project management, design and implementation services for a geographic information system (GIS) to manage Chengdu's water distribution system.

Chengdu Municipal Waterworks Company supplies domestic and industrial water to the 3.5 million residents of Chengdu City, the provincial capital of Sichuan.

PlanGraphics will evaluate the water company's existing GIS data and technology and will identify future system requirements by assessing workflow and best practices. PlanGraphics also will produce physical database designs and GIS standards. Working with strategic partner Sichuan JKC, PlanGraphics will develop survey specifications for locating and mapping the distribution pipe system and will oversee the acquisition and automation of the data. PlanGraphics and Sichuan JKC then will design and develop GIS-based workflow enhancement applications and train users.

"Chengdu Municipal Waterworks has witnessed the success that PlanGraphics' clients in China and the U.S. have achieved where others have faltered," said Minna Li, PlanGraphics' vice president of international business. "Our work with Shanghai Municipal Waterworks Company and several Sichuan Province governments gave them confidence to proceed with this project and our project team."

The project is expected to be complete in 18 months to two years. The contract has a value of $232,000.
