OMU celebrating National Drinking Water Week

May 9, 2001

Customers visiting the Owensboro Municipal Utilities customer center will receive a special gift in recognition of National Drinking Water Week (May 6 to 12). Also, Owensboro Community College's 51 Magazine television show is featuring a segment about the event. A display at the Daviess County Public Library also commemorates the occasion.

"American Drinking Water Week is an annual event that gives us an opportunity to recognize that Owensboro is blessed with good water and people who work each day to keep it that way," said Bob Carper, general manager of OMU.

In recent weeks, local middle school students participated in an OMU-sponsored poster contest with the winners receiving savings bonds. Area students have toured OMU's water facilities and speakers have made water-related talks at their schools.
