Sept. 27, 2011
Forum will feature discussions on solutions and future challenges in the water industry

The National Assn. of Water Companies (NAWC) announced renowned authors and water industry experts Robert Glennon, David Zetland, Steve Maxwell and Brian Fagan will join moderator and Global Water Intelligence publisher Christopher Gasson at the 2011 NAWC Water Summit in a discussion highlighting the challenges and solutions of ensuring global water security both now and in the future.

The summit will be held Oct. 2-5 in La Jolla, Calif., and will provide a dynamic forum for water industry professionals to exchange ideas, learn from one another and share solutions that sustain business as well as communities. The author’s forum will take place Monday, Oct. 3, at 2:00 p.m. PST.

“Our country is facing numerous economic challenges, including the need for investment to vital water infrastructure to ensure residents continue to receive the service they expect and need for healthy and productive lives," NAWC Executive Director Michael Deane said. "But the future of sustainable water delivery hinges on more than just repairing dilapidated pipes; public officials and private industry must work together if we are to truly move water forward."

The theme of the summit is “Public Service & Private Enterprise: A Powerful Combination for Moving Water Forward.” The summit will cover private enterprise’s role in utility service, highlight capital supportive regulatory practices, and identify emerging issues and suggested solutions. Examples of public service, including work being done to help ensure water quality, improve customer service and communications, support effective stewardship of resources and further sustainability efforts will also be discussed.
