NATCO Group Announces MPE Acquisition

Dec. 28, 2000
NATCO Group Inc. has announced its second acquisition this year -- the purchase of Houston-based Modular Production Equipment, Inc. (MPE) by its subsidiary National Tank Company (NATCO). MPE designs, engineers, and manufactures produced water treatment separation systems and specializes in hydrocyclone technologies, and NATCO Group Inc. is a leading provider of wellhead process equipment used in the production of oil and gas. "The addition of MPE's produced water treatment technology and expertise allows NATCO Group to offer producers the most advanced and complete turnkey process solutions in the industry," said NATCO Group president Patrick McCarthy. MPE's line of water treatment systems includes de-oiling hydrocyclones, desanders, gas sparging systems, coalescing devices, and water injection packages. Earlier this year NATCO Group announced the acquisition of Porta-Test International of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Porta-Test engineers and manufactures high performance cyclonic separation equipment and accessories for the production of oil and gas. The technology will be applied towards reducing the size and weight of oil and gas production facilities through efficiency gains. Sales and service support will be offered through NATCO's 32 North American sales and service centers, as well as engineering and sales offices in Calgary, Houston, London, Tokyo, Caracas, and Kuala Lumpur.
