Sensus Employee Receives AWWA George Anderson Award

Jack Johnson honored for his advancement of the water meter industry

Jack Jackson, a 37-year employee of Sensus, received the American Water Works Assn.’s (AWWA) George Anderson Award at the association’s annual conference and exposition in Dallas. The award is given to an individual who actively advances the science of water meters through design innovation, meter operations, management or training of others.

Jackson developed many of the Sensus meters and technologies used by hundreds of utilities around the world. He has created the curriculum for and taught courses on large meter testing for water works employees, Sensus customers and distributors.

“Jack is an amazing visionary and designer and has an unmatched dedication to the water industry, said Sensus Executive Vice President Mike Tracy. “In addition to his technical contributions to the industry, he provides outstanding customer service around the clock. He also openly shares his industry knowledge and wisdom with the AWWA committees and with new personnel in the water works industry.”

The George Anderson Award was established in 2003 to recognize outstanding long-term contributions by user members, consultants and manufacturers to the field of water metering. The award is named in honor of George Anderson. Anderson originally achieved an industry reputation by conducting “Road Shows” throughout North America in the 1960-70s. George’s specialty was large meters and particularly Class II turbines, a new technology at the time.
