Flow/Level Switch Suitable for Demanding Environments

March 28, 2016
Instrument can be configured for a number of functional combinations

Plant engineers in search of an accurate flow/level switch for use in liquids, interface service, air or gases will find the new FLT93 Series FlexSwitch from Fluid Components Intl. (FCI) provides a reliable solution. It is a dual-function instrument that can be configured for flow or level sensing; flow and temperature sensing; or level and temperature sensing. A single FLT simultaneously measures and monitors flow or level and temperature. Dual trip points and 6A relay outputs are standard and are assignable to flow, level or temperature.

The FLT93 performs high/low pump flow detection; flocculent sludge interface detection; relief valve and flare gas flow or leakage detection; drain line flow detection; seal leak and lubricant detection; wet/dry and sump seal detection; high/low level alarm and control; interface control in separation vessels; and high/low temperature alarm. Flow accuracy is ±2% of the set point velocity over ±50°F (±28°C) temperature range with repeatability of ±0.5% reading. Level resolution is ±0.1 in. [±2.5 mm] with repeatability of ±0.05 in. [±1.3 mm]. Standard temperature accuracy is ±2.0°F [±1°C] with repeatability of ±1.0˚F [±0.6˚C]. Improved temperature accuracy is available with factory calibration.

FLT sensing elements can be supplied in either standard [-40 to 350°F (-40 to 177°C)] or medium [-100 to 500°F (-73 to 260°C)] temperature configurations. The FLT93 S is also available in a high temperature [-100 to 850°F (-73 to 454°C)] configuration. FLT93 Switches are SIL2 rated for high reliability and found in demanding processes and plants. EX agency approvals are provided for the entire instrument—FM, FMc, ATEX, IECEx and more. Standard and custom process connections can be provided. The standard enclosure is made from a coated aluminum alloy. It is suitable for use in ATEX locations and is rated for NEMA Type 4X (IP66) environments. Stainless steel or fiberglass enclosures are also available.
