The International Forward Osmosis Assn. (IFOA) was officially launched April 7, 2014 and will promote forward osmosis technology throughout industry and academia. This new global association was the brainchild of four founding members: Modern Water, Hydration Technology Innovations, Trevi Systems and Porifera.

The IFOA has been set up to promote a global understanding, development and use for forward osmosis and provides a single voice between its membership and the general public. The association will also provide an opportunity to network with peers involved in forward osmosis. Company, professional and student memberships are open to the general public.

In September, the IFOA will hold an Annual World Summit which will provide a valuable platform to promote information exchange. The IFOA announced that this year’s summit will be held Sept. 18 to 19, 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal. Experts in forward osmosis membrane technology will talk about latest developments, strategies and techniques in forward osmosis.
